Dear Michael Buerk
As more than 18 months have now passed since I, in good faith, lent some archive material to Barraclough Carey North, and the most important items have still not been replaced or returned, I’ve decided to contact BECTU for suggestions either for compensation or, preferably, for an estimate of how much it would be reasonable to ask for my own estimated time and expenses in tracking them down.
Because of my friendship with Jenny, my feelings towards Barraclough Carey remain very warm, so it seems sensible to ask a third party to arbitrate rather than jeopardise those warm feelings.
Incidentally, I don’t seem to have received anything from BBC Enterprises for the clips used. I received no fee for appearing in the programme (though I did receive expenses). I asked for and received no fee for loan of the archive material. Far more important than any of this is the sentimental value of the archive itself.
With best wishes
